The sure way to know your fish oil supplement is of the highest purity, quality and freshness. AND, it is a high source of DHA and EPA. I have seen man different products, and some have such a low level of DHA and EPA. Always read the label.
Fish oil should be treated a little different from many other supplements because there different factors that are involved in fish oil purity and quality:
– Purity And Freshness pretty well go hand in hand.
– Concentration: Dr Oz says that per dose, the DHA needs to be 600 mg. And, I also suggest that you need to read the label, not the mg on the front of the container.
– Bioavailability (one explanation: A measure of the amount of fish oil fatty acids that is actually absorbed from a given dose)
For purity factor, do a little research on the product you have chosen. Check and see if they have a system in place that actually guarantees purity. Like the IFOS (see below).
How can you know if you are getting the highest quality of fish oil supplement? Well, The International Fish Oil Standards: IFOS (International Fish Oil Standards), a non-affiliated third party and the internationally-respected source for fish oil analysis. If your supplement is rated 5 star, you are safe to go!
At Sealogix, we are proud to announce that it has been awarded an IFOS 5-Star Rating (the highest rating available) for quality, concentration and purity
